Database still exists after database deletion?

I was testing a demo website named demo where the system user would also be named 'demo'.
It was able to create the website and database name and database user successfully on the empty server
However after deleting the website, the database name and database user and then trying to recreate the website with the same details it says that 'demo_wp' already exists even though it is not listed in the databases any longer since I deleted it.
Seems to be a bug
